In its Strauss & Mozart Concerts, the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra presents the most popular works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Strauss family. They are joined by arias and duets by Emerich Kalman and Franz Lehar.
The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra plays with a line-up of 20 to 40 musicians and is accompanied by international opera singers and ballet from Vienna’s opera houses.

The program changes at every concert, but there are always a few “highlights” performed. For example, the “Danube Waltz” by Johann Strauss, the “Polka Francaise” by Josef Strauss or arias from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Magic Flute“.
The concert of the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra lasts90 minutes, without an interval.
The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra usually performs in the “Redoutensaal” of the Vienna Hofburg. But the Austrian Parliament is currently being renovated and has been moved to the Redoutensaal for its duration. This means that the orchestra now performs in the Festsaal of the Vienna Hofburg. The same applies to the Mozart Hall in the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Vienna State Opera.
These historic concert halls all have a rich tradition and history in classical music and are a perfect combination for the large orchestra of the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra.
There are no numbered seats in most historic concert venues in Vienna. You will be shown to the seats in your category by the evening staff. If you have booked your tickets together, you will always be seated together. The box office opens 1 hour before the concert starts. We recommend that you arrive in good time.
There is no strict dress code for the Strauss & Mozart concerts of the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra. Smart casual is recommended.
The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra is a symphony orchestra, i.e. it performs with 20 – 40 musicians, accompanied by opera singers and ballet and led by a conductor. This setup is perfect for the large concert halls in which they perform.
Full refunds are possible up to one week before the day of the concert. After that, a cancellation fee of 50% will be charged. All cancelations must be made in writing.
Elevators are available at most concert venues – booking recommended.
