Concerts in Mozart's House
Chamber music concerts with the "Mozart Ensemble" in the Sala Terrena, the oldest concert hall in Vienna located near St. Stephens Cathedral. Enjoy the Viennese classical music by Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven and others in an intimate atmosphere, where Mozart once made music himself.
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Mozart ensemble performs as a String Quartett. Tuesdays and Thursdays as a Piano Trio.
Concerts in Mozart’s House - What to expect:
The concert:
The Concert’s in Mozart’s House last 75 to 90 minutes, depending on the season, with a break of 10 minutes. The Mozart Ensemble performs in historic costumes from the 18th century. The program consists mostly of works of the so-called “Viennese Classic”. This means Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven.
...The venue:
The Sala Terrena in Mozart’s House is the oldest concert hall in Vienna. It is said that Mozart himself was delighted by its acoustics and intimate atmosphere. Archbishop Colloredo commissioned several works for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart here.
Seating:
Like most of the historical concert locations in Vienna, the Sala Terrena has no numbered seats. You will be seated by the evening personnel within your category, or can choose the seats by yourself within the category. The evening box opens 30 minutes before the concert starts. We advise to be on time.
Dresscode:
There is no special dresscode.
Orchestra Size and cast of the Concert’s in Mozart’s House:
The Mozart Ensemble is a String quartett, featuring 2 violins, 1 viola and one cello. The members of Mozart Ensemble have performed in many world renowned orchestras and the Ensemble itself has also appeared performing for several documentaries about the life and works of Mozart.

The „Concerts in Mozart’s House“ take place in the house of Mozart’s first apartment in Vienna, now the monastery of the “German Teutonic Order”. Mozart lived and worked here for Archbishop Colloredo in the year 1781.
